General Manager

A Carter Custom Millwork General Manager is responsible for strategically planning and determining the vision, strategy and leadership which drives production of all areas of the millwork. Ensures that high standards of quality, delivery, customer satisfaction, and manufacturing capabilities are met. Ensures performance and quality objectives are met while minimizing expenses. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.

Requirements:

• Previous general management experience in a manufacturing environment
• High understanding of the production of millwork, doors and stairs
• Working knowledge of Weining Moulders, pre-hung door machinery, stair routing machinery and general woodworking equipment
• Exceptional knowledge of manufacturing methods and process improvements; including understanding of throughput and Lean Manufacturing techniques
• Strong knowledge in scheduling and shipping methods
• Ability to maintain a budget by managing cost of sales, labor and inventory
• Ability to use strong judgment in analyzing, troubleshooting and evaluating problems
• Experience managing a diverse workforce
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook

Responsibilities:

Management                                                                    

• Oversees all aspects of the Custom Millwork including the Mill, Customer Service, Office and Sales Departments. Develops and executes budget for all areas of the millwork. Establishes the strategy and implementation of millwork products to ensure high standards of quality, service and safety.

Staff Development

• Sets overall staff discipline of the organization. Monitors overall employee performance and counsels employees on improvement opportunities to ensure standards are met. Identifies and implements training and development programs for all employees.

Operations

• Identifies, plans and communicates key responsibilities and business practices to ensure smooth flow of operations. Ensures reports are being utilized and are prepared on a consistent basis. Makes decisions based off of production reports to provide future goals and benchmarks for the millwork. Ensures company standards of quality, safety and service are met.
